Francesca Rosa is a Brisbane based, Australian artist who graduated with a MA in Photomedia from the College of Fine Art, University of NSW in 2004. She has exhibited at the Queensland Art Gallery, Australian Centre for Photography, Queensland Centre for Photography and Museum of Brisbane. Francesca’s works have been collected by the Queensland Art Gallery, Daryl Hewson and privately. Awards include her selection as a finalist in the Wilson HTM National Art Prize, William and Winifred Bowness Prize, Churchie National Art Prize, and CLIP Award. Projects for 2010, include her participation in Photo LA and exhibitions at GRANTPIRRIE and Gippsland Art Gallery.
Francesca Rosa’s practice is influenced by the history of photography as a form of investigation, evidence and categorization. Conceptually, she addresses concerns of the forensic aesthetic and explores the visual vernacular of artificial and natural interfaces through themes such as ruin, decay, absence and abandonment.
